Sunday Post – Design

This week’s Sunday Post topic: Design

Okay, I found a couple of older items that seem to fit the idea of Design – as in Clothing Design.

This first one, started out as a bald naked model posed and rendered in Poser. I then took the render into  Paint Shop Pro (version 7 back then) and created this dress design on it. It was my first attempt at trying to design and paint a dress onto a model – shoes, hair, everything all painted. The FX are a bit amateurish, but hey, it’s for fun.

So… once I figured out how to alter clothing items in Poser through manipulating texture maps, etc, I did another render – this time I used a different Poser model, with a generic dress (Morphing Fantasy Dress for those who know what I’m talking about). I took the template of the dress and made transparency maps and added texturing and such – different texture from the original, but it was a different process altogether. Through playing around with the mapping, I was able to recreate my design in 3d and put the dress on a model as seen here:

Other than the color and texture differences, I think the design came out pretty close to the original, don’t you? Anyway it was a lot of fun. Maybe I’ll try it again one day.

Sunday Post – Expression

Thank you Jake for giving us so much freedom of expression in your Weekly Sunday Post themes. I like that it is open to however creative we want to get, whether with photography, digital art, poetry or prose. This week, I’m going creative, after all, isn’t that the best part of expression?

Those who want to see what it’s about, go check out jakesprinter’s Sunday Post and see what people are doing with it. While you’re there, why not try it out yourself?

This week’s theme: Expression

Poser portrait

Character Study - by Judee - Rendered in Poser

Facial expressions can tell you a lot about what a character is feeling – but sometimes, some expressions are not so easy to read. Quite often, what you see in something like this will be subjective, rather than objective.  What do you think she is feeling?

Vampire Regret - by Judee - Rendered in Daz Studio

Is there such a thing as a good vampire? What do you think he is feeling right now? Is she willing, or just resigned. You be the judge.

And on a lighter note:

In the Doghouse - by Judee - Rendered in Daz Studio

I love how these toons can show expressions. They are fun to play with and capable of all kinds of emotions. What do you think they are feeling right now? Can you sense a story behind this scene?

However we may choose to express ourselves, through words, pictures, cartoons, laughter or tears, one thing we all have in common – the need let it out, to communicate, to express who we are. It doesn’t matter how you do it, as long as you do it.

And so it is.   – Judee
